Pale Blue Successfully Operates the PBR-10 Water Resistojet Thruster in Orbit

Pale Blue has confirmed the successful in-orbit operation of the ultra-compact water resistojet thruster, PBR-10. It is also verified the soundness of the entire system. The propulsion system is an ultra-compact, water-based resistojet, measuring just 0.5U in size. Despite its small footprint, it delivers reliable and efficient thrust, making it ideal for CubeSat missions that require precise maneuverability, extended operational lifetimes, and enhanced mission capabilities. Already proven in orbit, the PBR-10 is enabling new possibilities for small satellite propulsion.

The in-orbit thruster operation was conducted onboard ArkEdge Space’s 6U CubeSat and the average thrust was confirmed to be over 1 mN, designed product specification value, throughout a number of cycles.

Pale Blue is revolutionizing space propulsion by making satellite operations safer and more sustainable. Recognizing the dangers of conventional propellants like hydrazine, the company is pioneering water-based propulsion systems harnessing the world’s safest and most abundant element to power spacecraft. By eliminating toxic fuel risks, Pale Blue is paving the way for a more accessible and environmentally responsible future in space exploration.
