Mynaric: Connecting the World in Air and Space

Mynaric is a leading the industrial revolution of laser communications by producing optical communications terminals for air, space and mobile applications. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, with additional locations in Los Angeles, California, and Washington, D.C, Mynaric is under the mission to connect world in air and space.

Myanric’s mission is to enable global connectivity by leading the industrial age of laser communication. Laser communication networks provide connectivity from the sky, allowing for ultra-high data rates and secure, long-distance data transmission between moving objects for wireless terrestrial, mobility, airborne- and space-based applications. Mynaric provides laser communication products to establish the necessary data highways for constellations and other meshed networks in air and space.

Laser Communication in Space

The CONDOR product line from Mynaric features optical communications terminals (OCT) for satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO), enabling reliable broadband and secure connectivity for both inter-plane and intra-plane scenarios, regardless of satellite motion. Designed for scalability, these terminals are engineered from the ground up to support serial manufacturing, facilitate rapid satellite integration, and enable mass deployment.

CONDOR Mk3: Purpose-built to address the growing need of high bandwidth, secure, license-free and cost-efficient satellite communications for next-generation constellations. The third generation product features much smaller size, less weight, and lower power consumption (SWaP) than predecessors.

CONDOR Mk2: Innovations drive long-term success and competitiveness, shaping the development of groundbreaking products. Maximum success remains the goal, reflected in every advancement. The space terminal CONDOR Mk2 stands as a significant milestone in product development, its design and build directly influencing its market-changing successor—CONDOR Mk3.

Optical Communications Ground Terminals

Optical communications ground terminals provides for unprecedented high-speed and high-throughput connectivity between satellites and the ground and thus serve as access points to terrestrial network infrastructure.  Mynaric has extensive experience in the design and development of optical ground communications terminal prototypes.

Laser Communication Technology

Laser communication surpasses traditional RF technology in speed, security, deployment simplicity, compactness, and cost efficiency. It enables high-volume wireless data transmission between aircraft, drones, and satellites, effectively creating data highways in the sky and space.

The system operates by precisely steering an infrared laser beam to transmit data through the atmosphere without requiring a physical medium, delivering significantly superior performance compared to conventional X-, Ka-, E-, or D-band communication systems.

Mynaric’s journey to connect the world is supported by leading industry partners including Capella Space, L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, Telesat, DARPA, ESA, SDA, and more. Through continuous innovation in optical communications technology, Mynaric is shaping the future of secure, high-speed data transmission across aerospace and defense networks. With a commitment to scalability and reliability, the company remains at the forefront of advancing next-generation connectivity solutions for global communication infrastructure.
